Drama Catch Up: Peeking in on Upcoming Dramas and Casting News

I’m  not sure where I’ve been but I’m feeling woefully behind the current casting news and new show information. It just goes to show that Kdrama stops for no man–or blogger.  For one I can’t believe that no only has Kim Hyun Joong’s drama Age of Feeling made it all the way through pre-production, found a network, and has already begun it’s run. Awww…is it weird I feel proud of our littl… Continue reading

Top 5 Porn Food Dramas

This post is totally dedicated to you big jerks who made me watch Let’s Eat, fully knowing it was the food porniest food show out there and I was on a diet. I say was on a diet as there is no freaking way there is any way you can watch that drama and not want to eat every time they do. It made me think of all the times this has happened to me. Before Kdrama, I’d heard the term Korean BBQ once–and that was the only knowledge I had of Kor… Continue reading

The Gift that Keeps on Giving: White Christmas Korean Drama Review

White Christmas crossed my drama radar several months ago, but at the time, I wasn’t in the mood for anything really dark (I blame Breaking Bad).  Eventually, the combination of a few disappointing romcoms and the promise of more Kim Woo Bin convinced me to give this miniseries (8 episodes) a chance. As it turns out, it was just what I needed to cleanse my kdrama palate.  White Christmas is anything but a traditi… Continue reading

Miss Korea Korean Drama Review (Final)

…pret characters in a specific way. Aside from a couple of side villains (the Ba Da Cosmetics guy, the elevator girl supervisor, and the gangster overlord), the characters all felt fleshed out and real. This is a slice-of-life drama if there ever was one, and once I settled in for the ride, I quite enjoyed how thoughtful and quiet it was. What surprised me most about Miss Korea was its strong feminist undercurrent. For every drama watcher wh… Continue reading

Let’s Eat! Korean Drama Review

…ly insurance salesman who wears a tracksuit and leaves all of his clothes at the dry cleaner’s was an interesting break from the mold. Doo Joon did really well for an idol-turned-actor. Conclusions It’s an uneven drama, and some of the extended eating scenes are borderline uncomfortable to watch, but if you love food shows and light noona romances, this might be the drama of your dreams! Just don’t watch on an empty stomach. Wh… Continue reading

The Prime Minister and I (The Prime Minister is Dating) Korean Drama Review

The Prime Minister and I happens to be one of the few recent dramas that both of us watched together, so we’re going to do a joint review on this one. A warning: spoilers will most definitely abound in this review. Here we go! The Story: A spunky female paparazzi reporter is assigned to write a story about Korea’s most eligible bachelor, the Prime Minister, a very serious, overworking widower who is out of touch with his three childr… Continue reading

Arang and the Magistrate Korean Drama Review

I have been working my way through some of the big dramas of 2012 that I originally missed because I was too busy watching older dramas.  Next up is Gaksital, which I convinced my husband to watch with me. Success!   The downside is that we’re on a one-episode-a-week timetable over here, so I could probably teach myself to knit and then knit myself a snowsuit and trek to Alaska and back before I actually manage to review it. &n… Continue reading

You Are All Surrounded Korean Drama Review

Everyone has that one drama that really sings the song of their people. For many drama watchers, it’s a nuanced, deep, heartfelt show that really speaks to their soul. For me? It’s You Are All Surrounded, where people run around chasing cars and punching bad guys. I am what I am, okay? Even though I said from the very beginning that I couldn’t possibly offer an objective view of this series, now that it’s over, I… Continue reading
